The Community Calendar is a piece of software intended to promote community events pertaining to arts, culture and heritage across local organizations and individual subscribers. In utilizing the Community Calendar, you will have the ability to access and contribute to public information in which adherence to the Terms of Use Agreement is required.
In accepting the Terms of Use Agreement, you are required to adhere to the following, which details acceptable uses, rules of "online" behavior, and access to privileges for Community Calendar organizations and individual subscribers. Failure to comply with this agreement will result in the removal of your Community Calendar Account.
Acceptable Use
The purpose of the Community Calendar is to facilitate communication between local organizations and individuals whom are promoting community events and individuals within the community whom want to attend community events by providing access to community information and resources. All use of this technological resource must comply with the existing rules, laws and acceptable use policies of your Library, which are incorporated into this document.
Privilege
The use of the Community Calendar is a privilege, not a right. Your Library retains the right to determine whether the privilege of use should be granted or revoked.
Controversial Material
All content and activity on the Community Calendar is easily monitored and tracked back to organizations or individual subscribers. This being the case, it is still the organization’s or individual subscriber’s responsibility not to initiate the contribution of such material that would be deemed inappropriate.
Inappropriate material includes but is not limited to content that is deemed to be based upon prejudices, racism, and/or sexism against any individual and/or group.
Moderators have been assigned who must, for your event to appear on the Community Calendar, deem the content of your community event to be appropriate. In cases where a Moderator requires clarification, the organization or individual subscriber may be contacted.
No Warranties
Your Library and/or the developers of the Community Calendar software, make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, for the service provided. Furthermore, your Library and/or the developers of the Community Calendar software will not be responsible for any damages which a organization or individual subscribers may suffer, perceived or otherwise.
This includes but is not limited to: loss and/or inaccuracies of community event information; appropriateness of community events perceived or otherwise; the rejection of content deemed to be inappropriate; the removal of organizations or individual subscribers deemed to be conducting inappropriate activity and/or deemed to be inappropriate generally.
Use of any information obtained via the Community Calendar is at the organization or individual subscriber’s own risk. Your Library and/or the developers of the Community Calendar software accept no responsibility for the accuracy or quality of information obtained through the Community Calendar, or for any costs, liabilities and/or damages caused by the organization or individual subscriber. All organizations and individual subscribers need to consider the source of any information obtained and its validity.
In addition to the above, I agree that:
- I will only use the Community Calendar for its intended purpose, to promote or source information of community events pertaining to arts, culture and heritage across local organizations and individual subscribers.
- I will not use the Community Calendar for any illegal or unauthorized act.
- I will report any potential security problems to the Library or the developers of the Community Calendar software.
- I will not attempt to alter, tamper with and/or damage the Community Calendar software.
- I will not engage in any form of vandalism and/or harassment via the Community Calendar or information sourced upon it.
- I will not attempt to decrypt any encrypted material via the Community Calendar.
- I will respect the privacy of others using the Community Calendar.
- I will accept that as a parent or guardian, I am responsible for my child/ward's use of the Community Calendar.
- I will respect intellectual property rights, copyrights, licenses, and other laws concerning the access of information.
- I will follow the Library's service guidelines which the Library reserves the right to develop and revise as necessary.
- I will acknowledge that the Library and assigned Moderators reserve the right to monitor all traffic on the Community Calendar to review any material or activity to determine whether specific uses of the Community Calendar software are appropriate.
Penalties for Improper Use
As previously stated, any organization or individual subscriber deemed to be in direct violation of this Terms of Use Agreement or any applicable federal, provincial, and/or municipal laws is subject to loss of access privileges and any other actions deemed appropriate, including restitution.
